LECCIÓN 10 | Uso de How Many para preguntar cantidades contables
El día de hoy aprenderemos a usar How Many para preguntar si HAY X cantidad de objetos en un lugar.
En esta lección vamos a combinar el How Many con There are y vamos a preguntar y responder según la cantidad.

“How many” significa “cuántos” o “cuántas” aquí es donde se enredan un poco. ¿Cuándo es algo contable? Cuando usted puede decir:
- ¿Cuántos?
- ¿Cuántos libros hay?
¿Cuándo es algo que no es contable? Por ejemplo:
- ¿Cuánta sal hay?
Vamos a mirar algunos ejemplos:
- ¿Cuántas sillas hay? - How many chairs are there?
- ¿Cuántas sillas azules hay? - How many blue chairs are there?
¡Ojo ahí muchachos! que lo vimos en la lección anterior, tenemos ya un adjetivo, ¿entonces en inglés qué va pasar? Lo vamos a colocar antes del sujeto, es por eso que nos queda “blue chairs”.
Recuerden que los adjetivos nunca llevan plural, se lo vamos a colocar al sujeto.
Pacho y ¿por qué “are there” y no “there are”? Porque para la interrogativa debemos mover el TO BE, eso lo vimos en las lecciones anteriores también.
Practiquemos con algunos otros ejemplos:
- ¿Cuántos libros viejos hay sobre la mesa?
- How many old books are there the table?
- R. There are five/5 old books on the table.
- ¿Cuántas flores hay en el jardín?
- How many flowers are there in the garden?
- R. In the garden there are three/3 flowers.
